YMCA Corporate Softball Challenge promotes healthy lifestyles

VINCENNES – While there is competition in a challenge, this weekend’s Corporate Softball Challenge put on by the Vincennes YMCA is not just about winning and losing. It is about getting a community to become active and have fun.

Five teams took part in the challenge held this weekend at Community United Methodist Church out by Lincoln High School. The teams came from the YMCA, Good Samaritan Hospital, Packaging Corporation of America, and Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home.

In the Bracket Setup Round, Packaging Corporation of America defeated Good Samaritan Hospital team 2 13-8. Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home defeated the Vincennes YMCA 15-0. Good Samaritan Hospital team 1 had the bye.

In first and second round bracket play, the YMCA defeated Good Samaritan Hospital team 24-7 while Duesterberg-Fredrick shut out Packaging Corporation 13-0. The Y then lost a close game to Good Samaritan Hospital team 1 by a score of 9-8.

YMCA Wellness Director, Clint Roesler tells Hometown News that the turn out was not bad for the event. Over 50 people are participating in the challenge among five teams.

The event will continue on Sunday, weather permitting. We will keep you up to date on the challenge.
