VPD Apprehended 2 Men After Purse Snatching At Wal-Mart.
Vincennes City Police apprehended 2 men after a purse snatching early Friday in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
At about 1:30PM Friday, City Police responded to a robbery and purse snatching that occurred in the parking lot of the Vincennes Wal-Mart.
60 year-old Vicky McFarland located Officer Kody Waggoner who was already present on a separate police matter, to report that she had just been robbed of her wallet by 2 young men in hooded sweatshirts while attempting to load her groceries in her car.
A vehicle and suspect description was quickly dispatched and Officer B.J. Helderman observed a grey Chevrolet with damage and 2 male occupants in hooded shirts, matching the description. The car and occupants, 40 year-old Aaron D. Hungerford, of Bicknell and 21 year-old Nicholas T. “Nick” Anthis of Vincennes were detained on a traffic stop at 15TH and Main Streets where quick investigation and victim identification confirmed they were in fact the suspects.
Investigators were able to locate a wallet, checks, and personal effects belonging to Ms. McFarland. Further investigation resulted in the clearing of additional theft and purse snatching incidents occurring in recent weeks.
