(Wheatland, Indiana) — During the Wheatland Town Wide Yard Sales the Wheatland United Methodist Church held a sale that would benefit two local charities in Knox County.
Sue Ann Day is in charge of this event and started the yard sale for the church about 10 years ago. The event has gotten bigger through the years and five years ago the Church turned their fundraiser into a Community Outreach event and went door to door to the residents to let them know about the idea.
Sue Ann Day said, “During any event we donate at least a portion to charity and we have several through they year.” She takes care of the advertising part of the yard sale so the residents do not have to pay to put their ad into the newspapers.
The Church is donating 50% of the proceeds to Generations’ Meals on Wheels and the other 50% to the Families In Need Fund. The administration board got together and decided to choose these two because they like to use local charities.
