(Vincennes, Indiana) The Vincennes University Theatre Department will present Neil Simon’s comedy play “The Good Doctor” for three performances, April 11, 12, and 13. Curtain time at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center is 8:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
In “The Good Doctor” an unnamed Writer/Narrator channels Anton Chekhov as he guides the audience through vignettes ranging from absurd to poignant. Along the way the writer muses on the serendipity of ideas and the difficulty of turning them into stories. From the man who offers to drown
himself for three rubles, to the woman whose tale of woe literally reduces a bank manager to agony and then charity, these stories are certain to amuse and delight.
The student cast includes Patrick Hess of Vincennes, Bryant Sweet of Washington, John Fischer of Princeton, Conner Weir of Nashville, Moira Flott of Brazil, Teri Crouch of Lizton, Jon Robinson of Mooresville, Hannah Simpson of Beech Grove, Quentin Toetz of Indianapolis, Shaquille Towns of Jeffersonville, and Michael Morgan of Montezuma.
Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for non-VU students. VU employees and students may receive free admission with VU ID.
