Vincennes Mayor Puts Executive Inn Demolition Bids on Hold Pending Hearing

A local mayor is learning that patience is a virtue when dealing with a court system. Vincennes mayor Joe Yochum along with city Attorney Dave Roellgen are awaiting a hearing on the Executive Inn before the consider the bids to demolish the eyesore on the city’s northeast side.
Currently, the city has 7 bids for the project, but they have been tabled until a ruling is handed down from the Knox County Circuit Court.
The city is worried about how long it may take for the case to be heard in court as the city may have to re-let the bids for demolition.
This is just one of the issues so far in the Joe Yochum Administration. After the fire at the Gimbel-Bond building in December of 2011, then owner Daryl Lummel sold the property to Travis Tarrants. Tarrants ended up deeding the property over to the city in the fall of 2012.
