Two people are reportedly injured after a car flipped on its top on Illinois 33.

Two people were injured following a single-vehicle accident on Illinois Route 33 Thursday afternoon.

Lawrence County Sheriff Russell Adams said both occupants of the vehicle were sent to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, one by personal vehicle and another by ambulance.

Adams said witnesses saw the vehicle strike an object in the road on Illinois 33 about two miles north of Westport, which caused the accident.

“There was a big, metal object in the road, and she (driver) hit it. It punctured a hole in the oil pan, and she lost control and flipped and rolled,” Adams said, noting the vehicle landed in the ditch on its top.

Assisting at the scene were Knox County EMS, Knox County Rescue, Knox County Fire, Lawrenceville Police Department, and Lawrence and Allison Fire Department.
