Two Important Meetings Tonight In Vincennes

There are two important hearings tonight going on in the city of Vincennes.
At 6:00 PM, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will be holding a public hearing on the 812 area code. This is the 5th in a series of hearings about the area code. The 812 area code is projected to run out of numbers by the year 2015. Officials at the meeting will talk about options like a geographic split, where some customers keep the 812 and others get new numbers, and an overlay where you will have to dial 10 numbers for every phone call you make.
That hearing will take place at Vincennes Lincoln High School’s Ader Auditorium.
Also at 6:00 PM, The Vincennes City Services Committee will hold a public hearing on ways to help cut costs of trash services. Several ideas will be discussed at the meeting, including privatizing the trash services and staying with the same sticker system and raising the rates.
That meeting will take place in the council chambers at Vincennes City Hall.
