(Haubstadt, Indiana) A Pennsylvania truck driver was arrested at the Pilot Truck stop after battering an employee.
On Tuesday, August 27, around 6:10 a.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Jacobs responded to the Pilot Truck Stop on US 41 and Warrenton Road after an altercation occurred between a truck driver and employee.
Edward Raber, 43, of Sharon, Pennsylvania, entered the shower facility without paying and allegedly defecated in the shower stall. An employee approached Raber after the incident and Raber shoved the male employee and exited the building. The employee and two other co-workers walked outside and used a camera to take pictures of Raber’s truck and its license plate.
Raber entered his vehicle and drove out of the parking lot, but soon returned and drove directly towards the three employees. Two employees were able to jump out of the way, but the same employee who was shoved earlier, was struck with the truck’s front bumper. He was knocked to the ground, but refused medical attention. Raber fled the scene southbound on US 41.
Around 8:00 a.m., Trooper Kaucher located Raber near I-64 and US 231 where he was arrested without incident for Criminal Recklessness with A Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Battery, and Tresspassing.
Raber was taken to the Gibson County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.
