Student Shot At Atlanta Middle School Has Non-Life Threatening Injury
(Atlanta, GA) – An Atlanta middle school student is hospitalized while a classmate is in custody following a shooting on campus.
Authorities were called to Price Middle School just before 2 p.m. local time today with reports of a shooting. Police say two 14-year-olds were in the middle of a dispute at the school when one of the boys pulled out a gun and shot the other. The victim suffered a graze wound to the neck and was taken to an area hospital. The suspected shooter was taken into custody. Police say a teacher suffered scrape wounds in the panic that took place immediately after the shooting. No identities have been released.
Students at Price Middle School were placed into lockdown mode immediately after the shooting and were kept in classes until school buses could make it to campus. Students were finally bussed to their loved ones at a nearby church around 5 p.m. local time, over an hour after the usual time for dismissal. Atlanta Public Schools officials haven’t said whether class will be in session Friday. Many parents say they are angry about the school’s overall lack of security, and have made complaints about security issues in the past.
