More than 40 vehicles and several semis are involved in a chain-reaction accident on I-70 in Indianapolis this afternoon.

Indiana State Police say snow squalls reduced visibility, causing white-out conditions near mile marker 65.   Officials say the eastbound lanes of I-70 will be closed for several hours – possibly as many as 6 hours – while the clear the roadway of the vehicles.

The accident happened just west of State Road 267, near the exit to the Indianapolix Airport.

Serious injuries have been reported.
