(Owensville, Indiana) —  A single vehicle crash in Gibson County today claims the life of one man Saturday morning.

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department reports that around 10:26 a.m. they received a 911 call reporting that there had been a single vehicle accident near the intersection of State Road 165 and County Road 700 South.

Lead Investigator Sgt. Bruce L. Vanoven reports that a White 2001 International School Bus was Northbound on State Road 165 when his vehicle dropped off the Eastside of the roadway.  The driver over-corrected crossing both lanes of traffic and struck a tree on the Westside of the roadway.   The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police say they do not believe speed was a factor.

The name of the driver isn’t being released at this time.  Gibson County Coroner Barrett Doyle is investigating the death, and an autopsy will be conducted in Vanderburgh County.
