It took nearly 11 hours to remove an overturned  semi-truck on US-50 Tuesday.

The accident happened at around noon at US 50 and County Road 300W.  According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, the semi was attempting to turn south of US 50 onto County Road 300W when it overturned into the ditch.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the truck was filled with a resin compound.   The truck was quickly pumped into another truck by the haz-mat team.

Cones were placed around the truck until around 8 p.m. last night, when crews began to lift the semi out of the ditch. Officers shut down one lane of US 50  near the intersection for about  4 hours, until the truck was removed from the scene.

The driver of the truck refused treatment.  No other details are being released until a state report is complete.
