(Princeton, Indiana) A Princeton man leads police on a high speed chase resulting in an accident.
On Friday, October 11, around 3 a.m. Sgt. Nixon observed a vehicle travelling down Main Street in Princeton at a high rate of speed. As he tried to make a traffic stop the vehicle started to flee through the south part of Princeton. The vehicle traveled down McCarty Rd running a red light at US 41 and County Road 100 W.
The officers continued to follow the vehicle to County Road 400 S. where the vehicle ran off of the road. Officers saw a passenger jump out at the accident scene and the driver continued down the road until the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn where the road meets Old Princeton Road.
The driver, Jonathon A. Ashley, 20, of Princeton was transported to Deaconess ICU for treatment of possible injuries. His BAC was at .21, which was almost three times the legal limit. Sgt. Nixon filed charges with the Gibson County Prosecutor and a warrant is going to be issued for his arrest.
Jonathon Ashley is being charged with Criminal Recklessness, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, Resisting Arrest with a Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Financial Responsibility, Seat Belt Violation, Reckless Driving at Unreasonable High Speed, Driving Left of Center, Speeding, Disregarding a Stop Yield Sign, and Disregarding a Traffic Signal.
