Help is on the way for Hurricane Sandy victims
President Obama is expected to sign the first part of a Hurricane Sandy aid package soon.
In late-week legislative action, the House and Senate quickly approved more than nine-billion dollars in flood assistance. The House went first. The Senate vote was unanimous.
Another 51-billion in emergency spending will be considered, later this month. House Republican leaders were roundly criticized for scuttling a vote on a broader Sandy aid bill, late Tuesday night. The Senate previously approved a roughly 60-billion dollar aid package but the legislative clock had to be reset after the expiration of the 112th Congress.
