Pence Wins for Preschools and Roads

StateCapitolIndianaIndianapolis, Ind. (AP) — Mike Pence, Indiana Gov., has achieved two victories for funding of preschools and roads.  Thursday morning, March 27, 2014, Pence signed the preschool pilot program to law during an event held at DayStar Childcare Ministry in Indianapolis.  This will provide for low-income children to attend preschool throughout five different counties.  Pence’s other victory will be signed Thursday afternoon as he travels to Valparaiso, Ind., for new road funds.  The state could acquire a $400 million dollar increase for the development of new and improved highways.  The final dollar amount will be assessed at the end of the year after a check of the states financial situation at the end of the fiscal year.  These two victories are a small portion of what Pence originally desired but fiscal concerns drove Senate Republicans to curtail Gov. Pence’s request.
