Patsy L. Hardacre, 78, of rural Sumner and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 in Lawrenceville at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Princeton, IN on April 21, 1935 to Mervin Oliver Baltzell and his wife Helen (Bailey) Baltzell. She married Bill Hardacre on August 12, 1955 at the Methodist Church in Chauncey, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 2008.
Patsy loved to read and cook. She was a cook at the Red Hill High School for 20 year. She was a sports fan, but she especially loved rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Red Hill Salukis. Patsy always enjoyed seeing and catching up with “kids” that she had watched grow up in the community. Her heart always had a special place for dogs.
Surviving family includes: three children- Doug Hardacre and his wife Tracy of rural Sumner, Debra Gaunt and her husband Jody of Park Forest, and Evelyn Kay Newell and her husband Rodney of Lawrenceville: two sisters- Janice Kay Litts and her husband Skip of Lakeland, FL and Shirley Ann Bass and her husband Jack of Carbondale: one sister-in-law- Evelyn Cooper of Bridgeport: eight grandchildren- Tod Hardacre, Jon Hardacre and wife Jessica, Nathan Reynolds, Tabitha Reynolds, J.C. Gaunt and wife Nicole, Kelly Urbanik and husband Jason, Darrell Newell and wife Morgan, and Gary Newell: and nine great-grandchildren- Chris and William Hardacre, Jay Reynolds, Emma, Cade, Ian, and Warren Gaunt, and Cameron and Lillian Urbanik.
A funeral service for Patsy L. Hardacre will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will take place at White House Cemetery.
