VINCENNES, Ind. – Performing “legends” will gather for three final performances of the musical variety cabaret, “The Caffeine Fix” this weekend at the Old Town Players Theatre & Arts Center. The show will offer music and character portrayals from The Beat Era, featuring such renowned musicians as Bob Dylan, Sonny and Cher, Janis Joplin, Nancy Sinatra, and Judy Collins; comedian Lenny Bruce; and Beat poet Alan Ginsberg. Performances will be Sept. 5-6-7 at the OTP Theatre & Arts Center, 432 Broadway Street.
“The Caffeine Fix” is presented with support from corporate sponsor Sure Clean, Inc. This production has a suggested rating of PG-13.
Performances begin at 8:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday and Saturday and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets will be available at the door beginning one hour before show time and cost $12 for adults, $10 for students (age 13+), $10 for seniors (age 60+), and $4 for children. It’s 1950 and San Francisco’s City Lights Book Shop is set to host its first coffeehouse gathering of singers, poets, comedians, musicians, and spoken-word artists – commonly known as Beatniks! The famous and not-so-famous have lined up for auditions and offer their best performances. Among those hoping to win a spot in the show are Peter, Paul & Mary, the Smothers Brothers, Alan Ginsberg, Isadora Duncan, Janis Joplin, Lenny Bruce, Judy Collins, Sonny & Cher, and Bob Dylan.
