Wearing a seatbelt may have saved a Daviess County man from more serious injuries, following a Wednesday night accident in Daviess County.

Police responded to a one vehicle accident on I-69 at the 79 mile marker at around 8:20 p.m. last night. When they arrived, they learned that 66 year-old Stephen L. Lagenour of Odon was traveling northbound on I-69 in his 2003 Ford F-150 when the left rear tire tread separated from the wheel.

The truck began to swerve and Lagenour  lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and hit an embankment, spun and hit the embankment again.

He was transported to St. Mary’s for treatment of serious injuries.

Indiana State Trooper Kurtis Blunk says that he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and that the seatbelt did prevent more serious injuries from occurring.
