Nadya Suleman is getting government assistance

The woman known as “Octomom” is confirming her return to welfare. Nadya Suleman tells “The Huffington Post” her choice to go back on government assistance is only temporary and that she hopes to be back on her own soon. The 37-year-old single mother of 14 says going through recovery in rehab last fall was an important step to take but it did set her back financially. Suleman went on welfare in March of 2012 and got off five months ago after earning money from various appearances, including an X-rated adult video. She says her choice to get back on welfare stems from her family’s need for medical, dental and food assistance.

Suleman first made headlines four years ago when she gave birth to octuplets. Publicity surrounding the rare birth quickly went south, however, when it was discovered that Suleman, an unemployed single mother, already had six other young children and that she underwent in vitro fertilization treatments to conceive all of her kids.
