A local community looks to fix a failing trash system.

The City of Vincennes continues working on a plan to avoid losing nearly $320,000 through the city’s trash system.

According the Crowe Horwath, the firm completing the study, the city in 2001 took in $361,424 in revenue. While that was going on, the city ended up spending $682,306; a loss of $320,882.

Also in the report, it showed at the current rate, the city needs to make $23.17 per household monthly to keep from going in the red. Doing the math based on 4 weeks in a month, that is nearly 19 bags of trash a month and most houses have less than tat.

The city continues to work on finding ways to fix the issue, but for now, the numbers on paper look to remain the same.
