(UPDATE) -  The all clear has been given on the campus of Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis, IU Health University Hospital, Riley Hospital, NCAA Headquarters. Earlier today, the campus was put on alert after someone reported seeing a man in one of the parking lots with what may have been a long gun.  The all clear was issued just before 5 p.m. local time.

(Indianapolis, IN)  –  Classes at IUPUI are cancelled, IU Health University Hospital, Riley Hospital, NCAA Headquarters have been on lockdown since this morning  while police search for a possible gunman on campus.

The school along with the hospitals were put on lockdown this afternoon after a student said she saw a man in a brown coat possibly carrying a “long gun.”  School officials say classes will resume once the all clear is given.

Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis was asking everyone on campus Tuesday afternoon to seek shelter after a man with what may be a long gun was seen in one of the parking lots.  Police say the man was last seen near the nursing building on the campus.

As precautionary measures IU Health University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children are on lockdown until further notice.  The NCAA headquarters also went on lockdown until further notice.

IUPUI Police Captain Bill Abston says the search is thorough, but they’ve found nothing.
