Illinois Governor Quinn Applauds Gay Marriage Vote
(Springfield, IL) – A bill to allow same sex couples to get married passed in a Senate Committee this afternoon, by a vote of nine to five.
Governor Quinn applauds the move, saying marriage is a matter of fairness and equal rights under the law. He says this is just the first step in giving gay couples equal rights.
The bill now heads to the Senate for a full vote, which will likely come on Valentine’s Day.
