The White House will honor the heroes of Sandy Hook Elementary later this month.

A posthumous award will be given to the teachers and administrators killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre by the President.

White House officials tell “Politico” that President Obama will award posthumous Presidential Citizens Medals to the six adults who died while trying to protect children in their care during the December 14th shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.

Family members of principal Dawn Hochsprung, psychologist Mary Sherlach, and teachers Rachel D’Avino, Anne Murphy, Lauren Rousseau and Victoria Soto will be on hand for the February 15th ceremony at the White House.

The awards are the second highest civilian honor bestowed by the U.S. government to citizens who’ve performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or fellow citizens.
