(Monroe City, Indiana) The Harrison Township Fire Department held their annual Chicken Dinner on Saturday.
It was a busy place Satruday evening around Monroe City. The Harrison Township Fire Department was busy cooking chicken and enjoying the night with friends and family and also the community.
The chicken dinner has been held since the early ‘70s as a community event. “The money raised is used normally for equipment purchases,” said Chad Hansen, Harrison Township Fire Chief.
It was a nice day for the fire fighters to take a night off to enjoy it with their friends and families after the hard work they do for the community.
Just over the half way mark of the event, the fire department had already served close to 600 people.
There was a live auction with many items to bid on, as well as two other raffles for a gun and a John Deere Lawnmower or $1,500 cash.
