(Great Falls, MT)  –  Engineers at a Montana TV station are trying to figure out how someone hacked into the Emergency Alert System and broadcast a “zombie alert.”

The message broke into programming Monday on KRTV in Great Falls.  It warned that “dead bodies are rising from their graves” in several Montana counties.

The TV station has posted a statement on its website that the “message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency.”

“Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and the CW that there was an emergency in several Montana counties. This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency. Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets.”
