Great Crowd For The 2013 Knox County Watermelon Festival (Pictures)

(Vincennes, Indiana) –  The 2013 Knox County “Watermelon Festival” and “Great American Grill-Off” was held Saturday on Patrick Henry Drive in Vincennes.

The folks in Vincennes take watermelons so serious they hold a festival and devote an entire day to celebrate the fruit.   The event is sponsored by the Knox County Chamber of Commerce.

This years event featured a 5K color run, baby, toddler, and Miss Watermelon pageants, Knox Co. Humane Society’s Annual Pet Contest, Seed spitting contests and music.

The “Great American Grill-Off” brought in competitors using their finest skills to make some of the best BBQ.

Free Watermelon was served the entire day Nowaskie Melons.
