(Fort Branch, Indiana) On August 18, 2013, Deputy U.B. Smith while on routine patrol observed a Black 2004 Dodge Neon perform an unsafe start from a parking spot in downtown Fort Branch. As the vehicle left the parking area it took a very wide turn and nearly struck a park car. Deputy Smith pulled in behind the vehicle as it went east on Locust Street from McCreary. Upon crossing the tracks the vehicle went up over the curb and then back onto Locust Street before striking a pole. Deputy Smith initiated a traffic stop at Main and Locust.
Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith smelled the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage. During a roadside investigation the driver was identified as Angela D. Garwood age 27 of Francisco.
After Probable Cause was found Ms. Garwood was transported to the Gibson County Jail where she is charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. Ms. Garwood remains in jail on a $650 bond.
