(Gibson County, Indiana) An intruder was arrested after breaking and entering into a resident’s house.
On Saturday, September 21, Gibson County Central Dispatch received a call about an intruder being inside of the homeowners house. While the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, Oakland City Police Department, and Indiana Conservation Officers were en route the homeowners were able to detain the suspect at gunpoint.
Officer Fulkerson, of Oakland City Police Department, the first officer on the scene, took James D. Kortz, 34, of Evansville into custody.
Kortz had entered the residence while the homeowners were away. They arrived home to find him rummaging through their house and attempting to leave with two of their weapons. This is when the two of them took Kortz to the ground and held him until law enforcement arrived. Kortz also tested twice the legal limit for alcohol.
Kortz was charged with Burglary-Breaking and Entering, Theft, Resisting Law Enforcement, Trespass, and Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm.
James Kortz was taken to the Gibson County Jail where he remains in custody without bond.
