Early Morning House Fire In Monroe City
The Harrison Township Fire Department managed to contain a fire to a bedroom during an early morning house fire in Monroe City.
According to Assistant Chief Micheal Johnson, when fireman arrived on scene at 1212 Cleveland Street, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the bedroom window.
The house resident, Micheal Rusty Snyder, woke up to smoke and flames in the bedroom. Snyder ran down the street and called 911. Fireman were able to respond quickly and contain the fire to the bedroom. Johnson stated the rest of the house did substain smoke damage.
Harrison Township was on scene for roughly 2 hours and was assisted by Palmyra and Steen Township. Petersburg fire was called to assist but was disregarded before arriving on scene.
Johnson say the cause of the fire is still unknown at this time, however the fire did originate in the bedroom of the house.
