(Vincennes, Indiana) – The Vincennes Beauty Bar is a fairly new, local business owned by Carrie Smith.
The store’s Grand Opening and ribbon cutting was held on April 19, 2013.
Beauty Society products are sold here with many different items to choose, like face cleansers all the way to up to makeup. These products are sulfate-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free, vegan friendly and gluten-free. No matter what skin type you have there is a product for you at the Beauty Bar. These are very high quality products and can last up to 6 months or more.
After getting disappointed with the little results on the home-based products and not getting the level of success that she wanted we asked what gave her the idea to open a business selling the products, Carrie Smith said, “My hair dresser has a shop on Main Street and said ‘You need to have a business on Main Street,’ and I scoffed at that. I am busy with agriculture, I’m a CPA, I am on several Board of Directors, Watermelon Association, the nursing home in Oaktown. I don’t need anymore obligations.”
“I did a little calculation and I had a hypothesis, if there were 20,000 women within driving distance of Vincennes and spent on the average of $500 on beauty products, then that is a $10 millon marketplace to sell skin care products. The anti-aging market is growing every year. It is like a $20 billion dollar marketplace,” said Smith.
“I felt like it might be the right time in my life to try a retail business,” said Smith.
Carrie Smith talked about the results she has seen using these products and had been using them for over 2 1/2 years now. There was a time that when she first ran out she stopped using them for about 3 months but soon realized that she was actually seeing results and signed up to be a Diva for the company, which is a Sales Rep, so she could get the products she loved at a discount.
The Beauty Society is fairly new company, turning 10 years old in 2014. ”I had to get permission from the founder. She is the only one that owns a Beauty Bar in the whole country besides this one now and she said, ‘If you want to do it, you can do it with my blessings, and I will be there for your Grand Opening,” said Smith.
The Beauty Bar does offer free facials. You are able to try all the products and you apply them to your own skin. Also you can tell the ladies about concerns you have with your skin which helps them to point you in the right direction on choosing the best product for you.
Sunless tanning and many products are also offered at the Beauty Bar. They have a VersaSpa stand up sunless bronzing system that also hydrates the skin and gives you a nice healthy glow. You can even do the spray tan without the hydration and still get the amazing results and not have the orange glow like other sunless tanning systems can do. Using the VersaSpa, over a traditional tanning bed, is much healthier for your skin and you are not getting the UVA or UVB rays and will not cause harm to your skin.
There is no age limit for the VersaSpa and even little girls on dance teams have gone into salons before to do their legs for recitals or competitions. This booth can target specific body parts or you can get the full body sunless spray.
If you would be interested in selling the Beauty Society products you can join with as little as $59.00 and that gets your start up kit and starts your website. The company offers weekly conference calls and they are always available online for training. New Divas get a handbook that will lead them, step-by-step, in starting up a business and being successful. You also have the ability to move up the Sales Rep line and many more opportunities start to grow.
The Vincennes Beauty Bar does have monthly specials on different products. If you would want to host a Beauty Society party you can call the store or go in to get on the schedule. This gives you a chance to bring some friends in and get pampered. The Beauty Bar does hold events outside of the normal store hours if you reserve that time with them. It is like a home party but at a store!
Recently the Beauty Bar hosted a “Beauty and Booty” event and this was the most successful one so far and they joined with Jill Ivers, a Vault Denim consultant. The bar was filled with women trying the different products and out of everyone that joined in on the fun that night almost everyone went home with some sort of product. They got to try on Vault Denim jeans as well.
You can call anytime and set up your own event, “You don’t need a lot of time to plan this. The more time you plan it the less likely you are to get people to come,” said Smith.
We also talked about future events for the Beauty Bar and what will be coming. Look for something during Homecoming for Lincoln. She is thinking about having another Beauty and Booty event around the time of the Christmas Stroll in November. Another event that will be very exciting is the “Mommy/Daughter Day”. Moms can get a facial while the little girls get their nails painted and even their hair and makeup. They will also go home with a little prize pack. This is going to be a free event. In the future they are looking at hosting girls birthday parties, and again moms can get pampered during the party too.
In October, the Beauty Bar is hosting an event called “Skincare for a Cure” and will be doing one on one consultations for $10 and all of the proceeds will go to the Good Samaritan Breast Cancer Center. Appointments will be available from 11-4 on the 13th and you can call the Beauty Bar to schedule yours.
The Beauty Bar is located at 205 Main Street which is right next to the Vincennes Beauty College. If you have any questions or would like to set up your appointment you can call 812-494-2405.
