By Sabrina Westfall Speedy Pete’s convenience store in on State Road 241 in Monroe City is very active in the community.
Employee Lou Perry said along with the fuel, they offer health and beauty aides, items for the home, soda and frozen meats.
Trecia Smith said the kitchen area offers Broaster Chicken, and several freshly made food items like cheeseburgers, tenderloins, fish and pizzas. Speedy Pete’s also has fresh cut chef salads that are made daily, deli sandwiches that are pre-made and also made to order.
Perry noted the pizzas sold from Speedy Pete’s are one of the many community based projects they are involved in each year. For every pizza sold through May, Speedy Pete’s donates $1 to the South Knox Youth Softball League.
She explained they begin the fundraising process in March at the beginning of the season, and donate to the league at the end of their season. Perry said the fundraising project has been very well received in the community.
In addition, she said the business donates to the Harrison Township Fire Department and helps out during the First Church of God’s town-wide yard sale by lowering gas prices.
Perry said it’s important to them to invest in the community. “This is where we live. This is our hometown,” she said. Speedy Pete’s is open seven days a week.
They open at 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, and at 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. They close at 10 p.m.
