(Lawrenceville, Illinois)  The American Legion Auxiliary Lawrence Unit #28 installs 2014-2015 Officers and presents awards to members.

The American Legion Lawrence Unit #28 held installation of officers for the 2014-2015 year.  Carla Gibson, Illinois Department Sergeant at Arms was the Installing Officer; Ruth Bean was Installing Chaplain and Norma Bean was Installing Sergeant at Arms.  Installed were President Beverly Sheley, Vice President/Sgt. at Arms Joanne Fritch, Secretary/Treasurer Judy Schoffstall, Historian Cherly Bean and Chaplain Pat Nash.  Margaret Sharrett was not present, but a plaque was awarded in her honor of fifty years as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

A drawing was held and Tom Nash was awarded a one-night stay at the Tropicana Hotel in Evansville with two dinners and two breakfasts.  Shelley Provines received four tickets to the Big Splash Adventure water park at French Lick,  Ruby Lear won a $30 gift voucher from Montana Mikes in Vincennes, and Pat Lewis won a one month Family Membership to the YMCA in Vincennes.  Henderson Transfer gave a monetary donation to the American Legion Auxiliary Lawrence Unit #28.

Cheryl Bean attended the Illinois Department Convention in Springfield, IL.  Bean received second place for her Poppy Poem, Norma Bean and Judy Schoffstall were recognized on the convention floor as Bean earned a 500 Hour Bar and Schoffstall earned a 300 Hour Bar for field service volunteer hours.  Ruth Bean received the Julia Musician Plaque for her 23rd district Public Relations Press Book.  Ruth Bean received the first place plaque out of 25 districts.  She also won an award for having the most unit participation for her 23rd district Public Relations Press Book.  Ruth’s family was present for this great event.

Beverly Sheley made 60 wrist corsages for the Illinois Department Convention Installation and reception of Illinois Department President Ann Flanagan.  Cheryl Bean made table decorations and a wreath for President Flanagan.  Sheley also made wrist corsages for Installation of Lawrence Unit #28 Installation and Judy Schoffstall and Pat Nash beautifully decorated for this event.
