American Birth Rate Hits All-Time Low

Statistics show just under four million babies were born in the U.S. in 2011, making for the lowest American birth rate ever recorded.
A group of researchers conducted a study and found the number of infants born here two years ago, was down one-percent from 2010 and four-percent from 2009.
The survey also found the fertility rate dropped to a record low in 2011.
According to the research, the birth rate fell among most age groups, but rose for women ages 35 through 44.
The study was conducted by researchers for the Centers For Disease Control in Atlanta and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore. It was published in the journal “Pediatrics.”
